MIST INNOVATIONS Security camera software shows firm way to grow

sells a system that allows business owners and security firms to see live video from security cameras over several varieties of smart phones. The system uses a server and custom software to capture video from the older kind of cameras commonly found in businesses, schools and government offices. Founded in 2004 by Marquis Coleman and Terrance Moore, the company’s system compresses the video from the cameras small enough to flow seamlessly over a wireless connection, while preserving enough resolution from the cameras to make the video useful. “You can access it from a laptop, you can access it from a cell phone,” said Mist President Larry Smith. “Any place you can get a cell-phone signal, you can call up and get a view of what’s going on through your cameras. “Smith said competing systems rely on new digital cameras that can send data over the Internet — which can be costly to install.

To help avoid the headache, his site aggregates all of the older versions of popular software programs, including AOL Instant Messenger, QuickTime, and. Users don’t just visit OldVersion. com to find old versions, either. “Some of our users use old versions to study the progressions of software,” Levine told PC Magazine.
