Arundel to get stoplight-timing software for Riva Road

com March 8 2009 In an effort to decrease congestion on Riva Road near Annapolis Towne Centre the county plans to purchase software that adjusts traffic signal timing throughout the day. The county plans to pay for the $141000 project using a federal grant administered by the Baltimore Metropolitan Council and about $28000 in county funds. The program should be fully operational by the fall according to the county. “Studies show that idling and traffic congestion [cause] more air pollution than vehicles traveling at higher speeds” County Executive.
