Sergey Aleynikov was arrested Friday in. The codes involve “sophisticated mathematical formulas to place automated trades in the market’” and such trades typically generate “many millions of dollars” annually according to an FBI affidavit. Aleynikov started a job July 2 — just days before his arrest — at Teza a start-up firm created by three former executives of hedge fund Citadel Investment Group including Misha Malyshev parto of the company’s team working on “high frequency trading” a computer driven strategy.
